Foreign minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel on Sunday arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on an official visit.

Khaleel was in India on an official visit from Thursday to Saturday.

Foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the visit to UAE was on the invitation of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.

During the visit, Khaleel will engage in high-level discussions with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to enhance bilateral relations, review the broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation and explore avenues for future cooperation.

"Minister will also have meetings with other dignitaries of the UAE government to explore collaborative initiatives, focusing on fostering partnerships and advancing mutual interests," the statement read.

"This visit reflects the enduring bilateral relationship between the Maldives and the UAE and highlights shared aspirations for development, innovation and prosperity."
