A man was found dead inside a house in Maafannu on Tuesday, marking the fifth suspicious death in the past month.
The deceased has been identified as Hussain Ahmed, a 41-year-old resident of Maafannu Tharivillage.
According to a statement from the police, the body was discovered Tuesday morning, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of death.
The police have confirmed that a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of Hussain Ahmed's death, and further investigation is underway.
This discovery follows a string of other suspicious deaths in recent weeks. The most recent incident occurred on December 22, when a 45-year-old man was found dead inside a house in Galholhu.
Earlier in the month, on December 21, a 35-year-old man was found dead in a similar manner in Galholhu.
Just days before, on December 7, a 33-year-old man was discovered dead on the Gaafu Alif Dhaandhoo road.
A 36-year-old man was found dead at a beach in Hulhumale during the same month.
