Police try to extricate a man found dead inside a house in Male’

6th unexplained death; in guesthouse Bathroom

A man was discovered dead in a guesthouse bathroom in Male on Saturday, marking the sixth unexplained death of its kind in the past month.

Authorities are investigating the troubling pattern as suspicions rise over the circumstances surrounding these fatalities.

The body of Abdullah Zaki, a 59-year-old resident of Bokarumaage, Seenu Hulhudhoo, was found at approximately 2:00pm at a guesthouse located in the Henveyru area of Male’. 

According to police, they were alerted to the incident after receiving a report that a man had fallen in the bathroom. Upon arrival, Zaki was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

"Police are investigating the incident," a statement from law enforcement said.

The exact cause of death remains unclear, and authorities are working to determine whether foul play was involved or if the death was accidental.

This incident is part of a series of mysterious deaths in the capital. Just two days ago, 41-year-old Hussain Ahmed was found dead inside Maafannu Tharivillage. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, though results have not yet been released.

On December 22, a 45-year-old man was found dead inside a house in Galolhu, followed by the discovery of a 35-year-old man who died in similar circumstances in the same area on December 21.

Earlier in December, another unexplained death occurred when a 33-year-old man was found dead on the road in Gaafu Alif Dhaandhoo. On December 7, a 36-year-old man was discovered lifeless in the waters off the Hulhumale' area.
