Ex-Thalassemia Society chair Abdul Muiz Hassan dies
He died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Hulhumalé Hospital.

Abdul Muiz Hassan, former chairperson of the Thalassemia Society and a member of its executive committee, died on Monday.
He died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Hulhumalé Hospital.
Muiz had also undergone surgery in Bangalore in January.
At the time of his death, he was serving as Assistant Project Manager at Housing Development Corporation (HDC). He was also the president of the HDC Employees Club.
Muiz was involved in the work of the Thalassemia Society for several years. During his time with the organisation, he served as chairperson and later as a member of the executive committee.
He was involved in efforts to raise awareness about thalassemia and to address issues faced by patients seeking treatment.
Following his death, President Mohamed Muizzu sent condolences to his family and colleagues.
“I heard the news of Muiz’s death with deep sadness,” the president said in a post on X.
He also conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased, members of the Thalassemia Society and employees of HDC.
