A fire erupted today in the Eco Garden area of Addu, Meedhoo, causing significant concern in the local community. The blaze started in the Mathikilhi region early this evening, with fire crews and local authorities swiftly responding to the scene.

According to an MNDF (Maldives National Defence Force) media officer, the fire is currently being tackled by the Hulhumeedhoo Fire Station. Additionally, efforts are being coordinated by the MNDF Fire and Rescue teams, supported by members of the public and the local council.

Aminath Solih, a Member of the Meedhoo Constituency in the Addu City Council, provided an update on the situation to the media.

"The exact cause and direction of the fire are still unknown. It spread very quickly, and we are all working hard to contain it and save the Eco Garden," she said.
