The Information Commission (ICOM) on Sunday revealed that the President's Office and four government ministries have failed to submit their annual reports, as required by the Right to Information Act.
According to the Act, all government agencies must submit their reports by 31 January each year. However, ICOM’s post on X identified the following key agencies that did not comply with the deadline:
-
President's Office
-
Ministry of Social and Family Development
-
Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation
-
Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development
-
Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure
ICOM highlighted that only 40% of the total government agencies managed to submit their reports on time. While 383 agencies complied with the deadline, a significant number failed to do so, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in public institutions.
