Two individuals have been arrested for attacking a police officer during a protest related to the unresolved death of Zakiyya Moosa, who was found dead with injuries in Noonu Atoll Holhudhoo last September.
Seven months after her death, authorities have yet to determine the truth behind the incident, leading to public frustration.
On Monday, tensions escalated on the island as protesters gathered, demanding justice. According to police, a police officer was assaulted during the protest, and damage was caused to the local police station.
In response, law enforcement took action, arresting two individuals under a court order. The case is currently under investigation, and authorities have urged the public to remain peaceful while they continue their inquiries into both the attack and Zakiyya’s death.
