Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in B. Kudarikilu School and several homes on the island.
Kudarikilu Council President Abdul Hannan Abbas stated that the rainfall began late Saturday night and continued until Sunday morning. While the flooding has been drained, the impact on homes and infrastructure remains.
According to Hannan, nine houses were affected, and fishing equipment was damaged. The school, located in a low-lying area, sustained damage as floodwater entered the building.
“The school’s computer systems, TV, documents, equipment, and chairs were damaged,” he said.
Local authorities, including the public, police, and employees of Fenaka and other institutions, were involved in managing the situation.
