ice-President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Ibrahim Rasheed, has resigned from his position.
His resignation follows the approval of impeachment proceedings by parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee during a meeting held on Monday.
The CSC acknowledged Rasheed’s resignation with a statement thanking him for his service on Tuesday.
Rasheed was appointed to the position in September 2020 by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During the committee meeting, chaired by Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam of the Progressive National Congress (PNC), impeachment proceedings were approved. However, no details were disclosed regarding the charges or the institution responsible for conducting the vote.
