Ex-deputy mayor Nareesh appointed as youth minister's advisor

Ahmed Nareesh, who recently resigned as deputy mayor of Male, has been appointed to the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment, Information, and Arts at a ministerial level.

Nareesh confirmed to Atoll Times on Sunday that he was appointed as advisor to the minister by President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday. However, he stated that he is currently out of Male and has not yet assumed his new role.

Nareesh resigned from his positions as deputy mayor and councillor on Wednesday, stating that he sought to serve the country in a different capacity.

Following his resignation, the Male City Council on Sunday elected PNC Councillor Mohamed Areesh as the new deputy mayor.
