
Maldives seeks $15m for housing in Male region
Additionally, $5 million has been allocated for social housing projects across the country.
The government has set a minimum investment of $15 million (MVR 231 million) for land reclamation in social housing projects in Rasmale, which is being developed in K. Fushidhiggaru Falhu, K. Giraavarufalhu, and K. Gulhifalhu.
President Mohamed Muizzu announced the minimum investment requirements for government-designated projects under an economic policy aimed at state benefit.
A resolution signed by President Muizzu on Friday outlines 25 projects and their respective minimum expenditures.
The resolution includes four areas to be dredged for housing in Male region, with allocated funding as follows:

Land reclamation for the Rasmale project – $5 million (MVR 77 million)

Dredging land from Gulhifalhu – $5 million

Dredging land from Giraavarufalhu – $5 million

Dredging land from Uthuru Thila Falhu – $5 million
Additionally, $5 million has been allocated for social housing projects across the country. A further $5 million has been designated for road construction and utility services in reclaimed areas.
The resolution also includes investment in airport projects, coastal tourism projects, social housing projects, land reclamation, and causeway connectivity.
