President urges nationwide cooperation to strengthen education
The President advised students to make use of the academic opportunities available to them and to focus on education as a foundation for future progress.
President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday called on citizens across the Maldives to work together in supporting the country’s education sector.
In a message issued to mark the beginning of the new academic year, President Muizzu stated that the government is working to improve the education system and emphasised that progress in this area requires cooperation from all sectors of society.
“Children can only be given access to education if society as a whole contributes to the effort. We must all lead by example and support the education and upbringing of our children,” he said.
The President called on citizens to participate in national efforts to enhance the quality of education and improve outcomes both locally and internationally. He encouraged the public to help children develop their skills and to contribute towards achieving measurable progress in educational performance.
The President also noted the government’s focus on the education sector, outlining initiatives such as improving school infrastructure, providing additional training and opportunities for teachers, and offering enhanced support for other education service providers.
He stated that the government aims to reach targets that would lead to educational outcomes parents can recognise and value.
Highlighting the role of education as a key investment in the nation’s future, the President said efforts would continue to ensure that no child, regardless of location, is left without access to schooling and that all students are given equal opportunities to learn.
President Muizzu also urged teachers and education workers to fulfil their responsibilities diligently, and encouraged parents to remain engaged in their children’s learning and personal development.
“It is the responsibility of both the government and the public to ensure that every child is educated to become a capable contributor to the country,” he said. “Continual learning is a critical factor in individual success.”
