The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has referred a case to the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) concerning allegations of undue influence in the appointment of a System Administrator at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).

According to a statement issued by the ACC on Thursday, the selected candidate did not meet the educational or professional experience requirements specified in the job advertisement. The individual did not submit any educational certificates or experience-related documents required for the post.

The case was filed by the university's Director of the Human Resources Department, Ibrahim Sameer of Nargisvila, Th. Thimarafushi, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ali Rasheed of Gulbakage, B. Eydhafushi.

The ACC stated that points were awarded on the 'R2' evaluation sheet in violation of the university’s recruitment and appointment procedures. The investigation also revealed that the candidate received additional points in the interview, and the overall score was increased to secure an unfair advantage through the use of positional influence.

The commission has recommended charges including misuse of confidential information obtained as a public servant for unlawful gain, and abuse of official position and influence for personal benefit.
