Six persons were arrested in a drug operation that seized 13kg of narcotics and a large amount of cash from Male on Thursday, police said on Friday.
Police's Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Department (DED) seized 13.56 kg of narcotics and over MVR 600,000 from two houses in Male and a guesthouse in Hulhumale.
A police spokesman told Atoll Times that six Maldivian men were arrested during the operation.
"They have been remanded to police custody for 15 days by the court," the spokesperson said, adding that further investigation is underway.
The police are yet to reveal any further details. However, the court orders reveal that those arrested are of age between 28 and 47 years.

Recently, the police recovered a large quantity of drugs buried in Hoadedhdhoo; but it is not clear if there is a link between the drugs seized in Hulhumale and the drugs found in Hoadedhdhoo.
