Maldives Customs Service has seized more than 5.5 kilograms of cannabis from two Indian nationals who arrived at Gan International Airport on a SriLankan Airlines flight.
Customs said the drugs were intercepted on Saturday during the inspection of passengers arriving from India.
According to Customs, officers searched the luggage of the two passengers after observing behaviour that raised suspicion of concealed contraband.
The search led to the discovery of more than 5.5kg of cannabis hidden in their luggage.
Customs estimated the street value of the seized drugs at approximately MVR 4.4 million.
