President Mohamed Muizzu has weighed in on football’s most persistent debate, stating that while Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are both outstanding players of their era, he regards Messi as the superior of the two.
The President offered his view during the “Dheno” youth podcast hosted by Naza Naseem, Senior Political Director at the Ministry of Youth. A long‑time supporter of Manchester United—where Ronaldo enjoyed two successful spells—Muizzu nonetheless said there was “no doubt” in his mind that Messi is football’s “greatest of all time.”
“Ronaldo is an exceptional athlete with admirable discipline and mentality,” Muizzu said, “but, technically, Messi has the edge.”
Messi and Ronaldo, who have 13 Ballons d’Or between them, have dominated world football for nearly two decades, fuelling ongoing debates among supporters, pundits, and players over which of the two is the game’s ultimate talent.
