Police have confirmed that they have not received CCTV footage of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed’s visit to MA. Maandhooge Dhekunuge, the residence of Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen and his relatives, on the night before her fall from another house.

Almost a week after the investigation began, the police held a press conference on Thursday to provide updates. When asked whether CCTV footage from Minister Ameen’s residence had been received, then Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau stated that police were in the process of collecting footage from properties linked to the incident. He added that an answer would be available once the work was completed.

Subsequently, the police media department confirmed that CCTV footage from MA. Maandhooge Dhekunuge was unavailable. According to the police, the homeowner informed investigators that the CCTV camera was damaged.

The police stated that efforts were made to verify the condition of the camera and that it was confirmed that no footage was available.

However, reliable sources confirmed to Atoll Times that the DVR system, which records the CCTV footage, was not shown to the police. The homeowner reported that the DVR was damaged but did not provide it for inspection.

Police attempted to retrieve the CCTV footage from the residence on Saturday.

Minister Mohamed Ameen resides in an apartment in the Maandhooge Dhekunuge. Security arrangements for ministers, including installation of CCTV cameras, are usually managed by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). In some cases, MNDF personnel themselves handle the installation of security systems.
