The body of Mohamed Hisam, 40, of M. Aluvimaage, was handed over to his family and buried on Monday, a week after he was found dead in a house in Malé.
Hisam’s body was discovered on April 22, at around 4:40 PM, prompting a police investigation. Authorities confirmed that discussions were held with the family regarding a post-mortem examination, though Hisam was ultimately buried without one.
Police reported that the body was officially handed over on April 29, following the family’s request for burial on the same day. Hisam was laid to rest at the new cemetery after evening prayers.
While police have stated that Hisam died of natural causes, family members expressed frustration over delays in releasing the body. The issue also drew attention on social media, as people questioned why the body remained in the morgue for several days.
