President designates Hirinaidhoo as part of Nellaidhoo
This administrative change fulfils a commitment made by the President during his visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll in February 2024.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has designated Hirinaidhoo Island as part of Nellaidhoo Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
The decree, issued Wednesday, formalises the inclusion of Hirinaidhoo as part of Nellaidhoo and amends Decree No. 2/2025 (Establishing Inhabited Islands in the Maldives) accordingly.
It also prescribes the official use of the Dhivehi and English names of Hirinaidhoo for administrative purposes.
This administrative change fulfils a commitment made by the President during his visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll in February 2024, aimed at enabling Nellaidhoo residents to derive economic benefit from Hirinaidhoo.
