The Thalassemia Centre in Hulhumalé has been officially handed over to the Ministry of Health.
The relocation and establishment of the new facility were designated as a national special task by President Mohamed Muizzu and assigned to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The new Thalassemia Centre has been set up at the Orange Hiya in Hulhumale. The relocation followed the closure of the Male’ centre, which was deemed no longer usable.
The project was carried out under the supervision of the MNDF Service Corps. To mark Thalassemia Day, MNDF personnel also conducted a blood donation to support the centre’s ongoing needs.
The Ministry of Health will now oversee the operations of the new Thalassemia Centre.
