Raud Ahmed Zilal has been remanded in custody for an additional five days in connection with the fall of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed from the ninth floor of a building in Malé on 18 April.

Raud, 21, from G. Eriyadhoo, was arrested by police on 25 April. This marks the third remand extension since his arrest. The Criminal Court initially ordered him to be held for five days, which was later extended by ten days on 30 April.

Yumnu Rasheed, 21, of G. Ranauraage, fell from the building while she was in the house with Raud. Police reported that Raud tested positive for cannabis following his arrest.

At the time of the incident, police stated that no one other than Raud was present in the apartment. However, at a recent press conference, Yumnu’s family claimed that she had told them four other individuals were also present in the residence.

The family also said that Yumnu had gone to the house at the invitation of Yusuf Yassar Abdul Gafoor, who is under a court order prohibiting him from leaving the country.

No further arrests have been made in connection with the case.
