The Information Commissioner's Office (ICOM) has announced that it will shift to online operations starting Tuesdy, citing the deteriorating condition of its office building.
In a statement issued Monday, the commission confirmed that the physical office space is no longer in a condition suitable for continued use.
According to the ICOM, the decision was made in light of ongoing challenges with the office’s infrastructure, which have been highlighted previously.
The office, located in G. Billoorijehige, has undergone renovations in the past but continues to face persistent issues. The commission noted that these conditions have hampered the effective delivery of services.
The ICOM’s most recent annual report also detailed the impact of the building’s condition on its operations. It stated that space limitations and structural concerns had led to adjustments in work arrangements, including a split-shift system for staff and the use of meeting rooms as temporary workspaces.
The report also indicated that no steps had been taken by relevant authorities to find a permanent solution to the issue.
