
Police advise caution as airport traffic to hike with Hajj departures
As per the Islamic calendar, this year’s Hajj is scheduled to take place on Thursday, the 5th of next month.

The Maldives Police Service has advised the public to follow traffic guidelines during the scheduled departures of Hajj pilgrims, citing anticipated congestion at Velana International Airport beginning Monday.
According to police, heavy traffic is expected on the following departure dates for pilgrims:

Monday, 26th
-
Tuesday, 27th
-
Thursday, 29th
-
Friday, 30th
Additional officers will be deployed at the airport to assist with traffic management and to facilitate smoother movement in the area.
The police have also urged relatives accompanying pilgrims and other road users travelling to the airport to cooperate with instructions given by officers on duty. Travellers using the airport on these dates are advised to plan accordingly due to the possibility of delays.
As per the Islamic calendar, this year’s Hajj is scheduled to take place on Thursday, the 5th of next month. Maldives has a quota of 1,000 pilgrims for Hajj this year, which includes 50 individuals sent under a government-sponsored programme.
