The Malé City Council has announced that the use of motorised and battery-powered vehicles will be prohibited in the Malé region on Eid al-Adha, which falls on Friday. The restriction will be enforced between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The council stated that the decision follows ongoing efforts, since last year, to limit vehicular movement during specific evening hours when residents often go outdoors with their families and engage in recreational activities.
According to the official announcement:

Motorised and battery-operated vehicles will not be permitted on public roads between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Eid Day.

Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to operate during the restricted period.

Action will be taken against any individual found operating a vehicle during the prohibited hours.
To facilitate necessary movement for emergency purposes, the council will issue special travel permits in the form of stickers. These will be distributed by the Public Services Department of the Malé City Council on the day of Eid.
Stickers will be issued during the following time slots:

08:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
