Aasandha services have been suspended at Lanka Hospitals, where a large number of Maldivian patients seek treatment, due to the failure to renew the service agreement.
Managing Director of Aasandha, Aiminath Zeeniya, told Atoll Times on Wednesday that the agreement had not been renewed because the two parties had not reached consensus on certain terms.
Zeenya said the suspension was not due to unpaid bills by Aasandha.
“We are paying their bills. The contract has expired, and services have been suspended because there is no valid agreement in place,” she said.
She added that patients cannot be referred to the hospital without an active agreement and that discussions are continuing to resolve outstanding issues and renew the contract.
According to Aasandha, a total of eight hospitals in Sri Lanka currently provide services under the national health insurance scheme.
