The sermon urged believers to reflect on their lives and align their actions with Islamic teachings.
“Fear Allah and be pious. Open a new page with this Eid and make Islam the ruler of your whole life. Then Muslims will be honourable,” the sermon stated.
It highlighted that unity is essential for the strength and progress of the Muslim community, warning against division. Citing a verse from the Qur’an, the sermon reminded worshippers: “Obey Allah and His Messenger. And do not quarrel. If you quarrel, you will become foolish and weak.”
The sermon also reflected on the significance of Hajj, drawing attention to the story of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his son Ismail (peace be upon him). It recounted events such as the rebuilding of the Kaaba, Ibrahim’s migration, and his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
“This is why it is permissible to perform the ritual sacrifice (Ulhiya) on this Eid,” the sermon explained.
The example of Ismail’s obedience to his father was used to highlight the importance of instilling respect and discipline in children.
“Today we hear that our children are disobedient to their parents. Let us make it everyone’s responsibility to try to raise our children to be good and obedient,” the sermon stated.
