The Criminal Court issued a not-guilty verdict in April. Judge Ibrahim Ihsan cited issues with the prosecution’s evidence, particularly the CCTV footage submitted as the main evidence in the case. According to the judgement:
-
The CCTV footage did not match the time of the incident.
-
The prosecution did not clarify how the time discrepancy was identified during the investigation and prosecution stages.
-
While the evidence was admitted, it was determined to carry low evidentiary weight in proving guilt.
According to the charges presented by the prosecution:
-
Midhath is accused of planning the attack and being present in the area at the time of the incident.
-
Jazlan allegedly transported Midhath to the location near Noor Mosque to carry out the attack.
-
Maisaan is accused of facilitating the attack.
-
The remaining four suspects were reportedly waiting in a car near the mosque until the attack occurred.
