The Maldives Hajj Corporation has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent activities being conducted in the company’s name.
In a statement released Friday, the Corporation said it had received reports of individuals sending messages to the public claiming to represent the organisation. These messages include requests for payments and contain links or instructions to transfer money to private accounts.
The Corporation clarified that it does not request payments through links or personal messages and does not ask anyone to deposit money into private accounts via phone calls or text messages. All payments for services provided by the Hajj Corporation must be made to official bank accounts held under the Corporation’s name.
The Corporation has advised members of the public to exercise caution and avoid clicking on suspicious links. Any such messages or calls should be reported to the relevant authorities.
