All Maldivian pilgrims who travelled for Hajj this year have now returned to the Maldives, with the final group arriving last night.
The last group, comprising pilgrims from the 1,000-person national quota, concluded their journey and arrived back in the country, according to officials. Since 2023, all Maldivian pilgrims have participated in the pilgrimage through the Maldives Hajj Corporation.
This year’s Hajj travel was facilitated under the Mecca Route Initiative, which allows pilgrims to complete immigration procedures at their point of departure before arriving in Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to streamline entry into the Kingdom for Hajj purposes.
Authorities also reported that accommodation arrangements for Maldivian pilgrims in Mina saw changes this year.
In response to reports of flu symptoms among some returning pilgrims, special flu clinics have been established at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Tree Top Hospital, and Hulhumalé Hospital to provide medical care.
