Over 70 homes flooded in Feydhoo as heavy rain continues
The authority said sandbags and other preventive measures were also being used to stop water entering homes, shops and offices.

More than 70 homes in Feydhoo, Addu City, have reported flooding and varying levels of damage as heavy rain continues across parts of the Maldives, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday.
The authority said flooding had affected several areas of Addu, with reports of water entering homes in Feydhoo and Maradhoo.
On Friday, the NDMA said about 30 homes in Feydhoo had been flooded. One house occupied by eight people became uninhabitable, forcing the family to move to temporary accommodation.
In an update on Saturday, the NDMA said more than 70 homes in Feydhoo had reported flooding and damage by the morning.
The authority said the same family of eight remained in temporary accommodation after their home became unfit for occupation.
Two homes in Maradhoo have also reported flooding, according to the NDMA.
Heavy rain has also continued in Fuvahmulah, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and parts of the central Maldives.
The NDMA said a large area of Fuvahmulah had experienced flooding following heavy rain, although there had so far been no reports of homes being flooded or damaged.
“Work to drain floodwater in these islands is continuing without interruption in coordination with the MNDF, police and local councils,” the NDMA said.

The Maldives Meteorological Service had issued a yellow alert on Friday for the four southern atolls, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms, gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and rough seas.
