Rain has returned to parts of the Maldives after about two weeks of hot weather, with the national weather service forecasting further showers over the next three days.
Temperatures had remained high across several parts of the country since the end of last month, with readings in some areas approaching 40 degrees Celsius and rising above seasonal averages.
However, weather conditions began to change from Wednesday, with rainfall reported in parts of the country.
The Maldives Meteorological Service said rain is expected across different areas over the next three days, with heavy showers possible in some locations.
Seas are also expected to become rough during thunderstorms.
A white alert remains in effect for a large part of the country. The alert warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusts of up to 35 miles per hour.
The Met Office said the current rainfall is part of the normal southwest monsoon pattern.
It said that while temperatures can remain high during the season, periods of rain are also expected from time to time.
