
President announces RTL ferry for Baa Atoll by end of July
With the commencement of operations in Raa Atoll, RTL coverage has extended to 10 atolls.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services will be launched in Baa Atoll before the end of next month.
The announcement was made on Thursday via a post on the President’s official X account. The President also welcomed the launch of RTL ferry services in Raa Atoll, which commenced today as scheduled.
In the post, President Muizzu stated that final preparations are underway for the Baa Atoll launch and reiterated his administration's commitment to expanding ferry connectivity across the Maldives.
According to the President, ferry services will be introduced in all atolls before the end of this year. He said necessary work is in progress to meet this timeline.
The RTL network is part of an integrated public transport system aimed at improving inter-island connectivity through high-speed ferry services.
Currently, RTL operations are underway in 10 atolls, with services provided in three main zones:

Northern zone: Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, and Raa

Southern zone: Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah, and Addu
With the commencement of operations in Raa Atoll, RTL coverage has extended to 10 atolls. The upcoming launch in Baa Atoll will further expand the network, as the government works towards its stated goal of full nationwide coverage within the year.
