The dinghy of Zakariyya Mohamed, 75, who went missing while travelling alone between GDh. Gadhdhoo and GDh. Gan, was recovered on Saturday morning.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the dinghy was located 10 metres underwater in the channel between Gadhdhoo and Gan. The discovery was made during a second dive carried out jointly with police officers.
Zakariyya had departed Gan for Gadhdhoo on Thursday morning and was last reported leaving the island at 11:15 a.m. Authorities confirmed he was last seen wearing a blue sleeveless shirt and black trousers.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is continuing search efforts to locate Zakariyya.
