
Demolition of M. Orchid Plaza commences over safety concerns

The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has begun demolition of M. Orchid Plaza, a site that has been linked to multiple fire incidents and suspected drug-related activity.
Minister Adam Shareef Umar announced the move on X on Saturday, stating that demolition work on Orchid Plaza, House Plaza, and New Plaza is now underway.
According to the minister, the demolition was initiated to address public safety concerns. He also extended apologies for any inconvenience caused by the operation.
Orchid Plaza and House Plaza have previously been the location of several fire incidents. Residents in the area have reported the buildings being used by individuals involved in drug use.
