The Elections Commission announced that the election will take place on 11 October, with voting to be conducted under its supervision.
According to the Commission, only those who register within the given period will be eligible to vote on behalf of broadcasters and media outlets included in the voter list. Each representative may only vote on behalf of one broadcaster or media outlet. Registration can be completed through the Election Commission’s MyPortal at https://my.elections.gov.mv/. Voter registration will remain open until 4:00 p.m. on 10 October 2025.
The Elections Commission on Sunday also released a list of 353 media outlets eligible to participate in the election. The list includes broadcasters, discontinued outlets, and other media. Among them are 18 broadcasters and their associated companies.
Following a review process, the Commission removed 18 media outlets from the earlier list and added 64 outlets, bringing the total number of eligible participants to 353. The deadline for submitting complaints regarding the list is 10:00 p.m. on 10 October 2025
