The Elections Commission (EC) has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the voter list for the October 25 referendum on changing the composition of the Addu City Council.
The referendum is being held following a petition by a group of Addu residents seeking changes to the city’s administrative structure.
In an announcement on Saturday, the EC said the list of eligible voters for the referendum has been published, and complaints can be submitted until 12 noon on Sunday.
The EC stated that complaints must be submitted through a special form, which can also be submitted online.
The upcoming vote will be conducted in Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, and Feydhoo, after residents from these three islands requested to form separate councils.
Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, which are geographically separate from the connected islands of Addu, have previously called for their own administrative councils.
At present, Addu City is administered under a single city council, which includes both the four connected islands and the two outer islands.
