The People’s National Front (PNF), led by former President Abdulla Yameen, has announced the opening of applications for its permanent leadership positions.
The PNF, which was officially registered in April last year, will hold its first internal election on the 30th of this month, in conjunction with the party’s national assembly.
The positions open for application include:
-
President of the Party
-
Two Vice-Presidents
-
Secretary-General
-
Treasurer
-
Fourteen members of the Senate
The party stated that applications from eligible candidates must be submitted before the 23rd of this month.
The PNF held its first major rally at Artificial Beach in August last year. Subsequent meetings have been held at the party’s office and Yameen’s residence, H. Dhoovehi.
The upcoming election takes place as Yameen faces ongoing trials in the Criminal Court and the Supreme Court, with a verdict expected soon in one of the cases.
