Former President Abdullah Yameen chaired his new party People’s National Front (PNF)[‘s first Senate meeting on Saturday.
The meeting was held early on Saturday, the party's Secretary General Maleeh Jamal said in a post on X on Saturday.
“The historic first Senate meeting of the PNF was held today. Members were elected to four committees in the party charter. These include the Ethics, Appeals, EC and Member Affairs Committee," Maleeh said.
Yameen chaired the meeting, "with the consent of the Senate," Maleeh said.
Yameen is a member of the party's Senate. Photos released by Maleeh show Yameen accompanied by the party president and his son Zain Abdullah Yameen.
The Election Commission registered the PNF on Thursday.
Yameen was recently released after the first appellate court annulled his 11 year jail sentence for bribery and money laundering and order a retrial.
