More than 500 young people have applied for 70 immigration officer trainee positions announced by the Maldives Immigration.
Hundreds of applicants gathered for interviews held at Salahuddin School in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Saturday, with sessions running from morning until evening. All applicants were under the age of 30.
According to Immigration officials, the turnout exceeded expectations. “The response was better than we expected. More than 500 young people came for the interview,” an official said.
The recruitment process will involve two additional examinations for those who pass the initial interview. Fifty candidates will be selected from among those who achieve the highest scores.
“After the examination, the selected candidates will be employed as soon as possible,” the official added.
The selected officers will be assigned to various immigration offices in Malé and Hulhumalé on a rotational basis. They will also have opportunities to work at Velana International Airport’s two terminals, the seaport, and visa service centres.
A similar scene was observed during a previous recruitment drive held at Galolhu School, where hundreds of young people queued for interview opportunities, reflecting continued demand for employment among Maldivian youth.
