Immigration launches new digital services

The Maldives Immigration has launched new digital services, including an updated website, a mobile application, and an e-visa platform aimed at strengthening its operations and improving service delivery.
The new services were introduced at a ceremony held on Monday at Barceló Nasandhura Malé. President Mohamed Muizzu attended the event, where the initiatives were formally launched by Immigration Commissioner General Ahmed Faseeh.
The Facial Recognition MI ID Checker application, developed to assist in identifying foreigners living in the Maldives, was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihsan. The new e-visa service for foreign residents was launched by President Muizzu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner General Faseeh said Immigration’s objective is to provide efficient and transparent services to Maldivian citizens, visitors, and foreign residents.

The MI ID Checker application allows Immigration, police, and other law enforcement agencies to access identity information of foreign nationals. The system is expected to improve identification processes in cases involving foreigners seeking medical treatment or in situations of death, where verification has previously been time-consuming.
Ihsan added that more than 190,000 foreign nationals have had their biometric data collected as part of ongoing efforts to register all expatriate workers in the Maldives. “The purpose of this work is to ensure those staying in the country illegally are brought under regulation and those without authorisation are deported,” he said.
