Police identify 5 arrested in Addu in major drug network bust

Police have released the identities of five individuals arrested in Addu under the nationwide anti-drug operation, Operation Alimagu.

Police said investigations into drug trafficking and money laundering involving the network’s leaders have been ongoing since March.

The network has been active in drug trafficking since 2017.

More than MVR 19 million has been transferred to the accounts of four senior members over the past five years.
A court has ordered the remand of Ali Nadeem, Hafiz Fauzy and Ibrahim Siraj for 30 days, while Hassan Alfaf and Ameen Mohamed have been remanded for five days.
Police said investigations are continuing.
