Employees of the Civil Court have filed a disciplinary complaint with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) against two Civil Court judges, Judge Abdulla Ihsan and Judge Hafiza Abdul Sattar.

The employees submitted a letter to the JSC. The commission has not yet decided whether it will open an investigation.

According to information obtained, the complaints relate to:

  • Judge Hafiza’s treatment of employees

  • Allegations that Judge Abdulla Ihsan insulted employees

Reports of discrimination against Civil Court staff and claims of judicial influence in recruitment have circulated for some time. Some employees have previously filed complaints with the JSC regarding the conduct of judges.

This is the second complaint lodged against Judge Hafiza. A previous case against her was dismissed after the JSC concluded that the allegations were not substantiated because staff members did not provide statements.

Employees have also filed complaints against the Civil Court’s Chief Judge, Mariyam Waheeda. The status of that case remains unclear.
