Police question Sunny Umar over allegations involving minors

Sunny Umar, who has been accused of sexually assaulting minors from his wife’s family, was brought before police for questioning on Monday.
Umar, who operates a travel agency under the Maldives Halal Travel brand and manages hospitality-related media outlets, was accused by members of his wife’s family after allegations of sexual assault surfaced in the media. A formal complaint was subsequently filed with police.
A police spokesperson said Umar was produced before the FCP on Monday for clarification.
Umar left Maldives for India on Thursday after the allegations became public. He was presented to police at Velana International Airport upon arrival.
According to information obtained by Dhauru, the case involves three children from his wife’s family:

Two girls and one boy

One of the girls and the boy are under the age of 18

The other girl was also allegedly assaulted before turning 18
Police have not released further details as the investigation continues.
