Textbooks to reach all schools before new academic year, says ministry
The ministry also noted that many schools have started issuing stationery vouchers to students.
The Ministry of Education has announced that textbooks will be delivered to all schools in the Maldives before the start of the next academic year.
The ministry said most schools have completed academic activities for the year. Schools are scheduled to issue report cards and formally close on Thursday, marking the start of the school holidays.
According to the ministry, the distribution of textbooks has already begun in preparation for the new academic year. All schools are expected to receive textbooks by 10 January.
The ministry also noted that many schools have started issuing stationery vouchers to students.
Details released as part of the academic calendar indicate that the school holiday will begin on Thursday. After a one-month break, the new academic year will commence on 27 January. Teachers are scheduled to return to schools on 25 January.
Ramadan is expected to begin on 18 February. Schools will close for the final ten days of Ramadan from 9 March. Students will receive a total of 14 days off, including the final days of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
A mid-term break is scheduled from 24 to 30 May. The first term holiday will run from 17 July to 1 August, with the second term beginning on 2 August. A second-term mid-break is scheduled from 13 to 19 September.
The academic year is scheduled to end on 18 December next year.
