Court sentences Mamdooh to 397 years over K-Park flat fraud
Jaishan Saeed, who was found to have participated in the offences, was sentenced to 159 years in prison.

The Criminal Court on Wednesday sentenced Hassan Mamdooh to a total of 397 years in prison after convicting him on 94 charges related to fraud in the sale of K-Park flats. Jaishan Saeed, who was found to have participated in the offences, was sentenced to 159 years in prison.
Following the conclusion of the trial, the court on Saturday found Mamdooh guilty on 94 charges. The hearing held on Wednesday was scheduled to determine sentencing for those charges and to rule on the remaining 10 charges, which were later dismissed.
Presiding judge Ali Nadeem imposed the following sentences on Mamdooh:

46 counts of tax evasion: eight years for each count, totalling 368 years

44 counts of fraud: three months and 18 days for each count, totalling 13 years, two months and 12 days

Money laundering: 14 years, 11 months and 14 days, after deducting 16 days already served

Three counts of knowingly providing invalid documents with intent to deceive: one year, four months and 24 days
After deducting time spent in custody, Mamdooh’s total sentence amounts to 397 years, six months and 20 days.
Jaishan Saeed received the following sentences:

41 counts of deceptive conduct: three months and 18 days for each count, totalling 12 years, three months and 18 days

44 counts of participation in tax evasion: three years, two months and 12 days for each count, totalling 140 years, nine months and 18 days

Aiding and abetting money laundering: four years, 11 months and 24 days

Three counts of knowingly providing invalid documents with intent to deceive: one year, four months and 24 days
After deducting time spent in custody, Jaishan’s total sentence amounts to 159 years, five months and 14 days.
The court also ordered the defendants to pay compensation to the victims within six months and ordered the confiscation of a penthouse and other property linked to the case.
The penthouse where Mamdooh and his wife resided was valued at approximately MVR 8 million. Items recovered from the property included around 200 bottles of perfume, handbags valued between MVR 40,000 and MVR 50,000, and jewellery valued between USD 10,000 and USD 25,000.
