A 1,200 kilowatt generator has been installed in Villimale to prepare for the upcoming period of higher electricity consumption.
State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) said on Wednesday that the generator will increase generation capacity in the ward and support continuity of electricity supply.
STELCO noted that electricity demand typically rises during the hot season, which has previously led to outages and strain on generators. The company said it undertakes capacity additions each year to prepare for peak demand.
The newly installed 1,200 kW generator is expected to support supply for residents of Villimale during periods of increased consumption.
