DNA tests confirm body found near Kinolhas was male
Police had earlier stated that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to determine the gender at the time of discovery.
The Maldives Police Service said on Thursday that DNA testing has confirmed the body found outside R. Kinolhas on the 4th of this month was male.
Police had earlier stated that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to determine the gender at the time of discovery. Following DNA analysis, police confirmed that the remains belonged to a man.
Police also said the body is not that of a tourist who went missing last month from AA. Ukulhas. The missing individual, a Russian national, has been unaccounted for since the 17th of last month.
In addition, police confirmed that DNA tests conducted on a body found near K. Kandooma Thila on the 21st of last month also did not match the missing tourist.
Police said investigations into both cases are ongoing.
