Ali Azim accepts defeat, congratulates Adam Azim after MDP primary

Former parliamentarian Ali Azim has accepted defeat in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) primary held on Friday and congratulated incumbent Malé Mayor Adam Azim, who secured the party’s ticket to contest the upcoming local council elections.
Provisional results of the MDP primary showed that Adam Azim won the mayoral candidacy by a wide margin.
Ali Azim contacted Adam Azim by phone on Friday night to convey his congratulations. He later shared a video of the phone conversation on X.
In the post, Ali Azim said he wished continued success for the Maldivian Democratic Party.
During the call, Adam Azim invited Ali Azim to work with him in the campaign for the local council elections. Ali Azim responded that he would seek to cooperate.
