Mohamed Sifan elected president of Adhaalath Party

According to the party, Sifan secured 99 per cent of the votes cast. His running mate, Abdulla Rasheed, was elected as vice-president.

Adhaalath Party vice-president Mohamed Sifan has been elected as the party’s president following an internal election held on Saturday.

The election was held to select the fourth president of the Adhaalath Party. The contest was between Mohamed Sifan and Ikram Abdul Sattar.

According to the party, Sifan secured 99 per cent of the votes cast. His running mate, Abdulla Rasheed, was elected as vice-president.

The Adhaalath Party said 22 per cent of eligible voters participated in the election. Voting was conducted through the online portal Fahivote, operated by the Maldives Securities Depository.

The list of eligible voters was published on the Fahivote portal. A total of 8,340 voters were eligible to vote, of whom 1,835 cast their ballots.
