The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Wednesday that residents who were provided with temporary shelter following a fire at Hiyaa Tower Five in Hulhumalé Phase II will return to their homes on Wednesday.
The authority said repair work on the sewerage system damaged in the fire has been completed and that water and electricity services have been restored to all affected apartments.
According to the NDMA, a total of 148 residents from 31 apartments were provided with temporary accommodation after the incident. The families are scheduled to resume normal occupancy of their apartments from Wednesday.
The fire occurred on 31 of last month and originated from an outdoor air-conditioning unit at the Hiyaa housing tower.
